Blueberry caprese salad for Independence Day

Blueberries, cherry tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and basil tossed with olive oil and balsamic vinegar make this salad a great side dish for a festive occasion. You can assemble the salad ingredients to resemble the American flag or toss them all together in a large bowl.

Ingredients for Blueberry Caprese Salad

  • Fresh blueberries, 1 Cup
  • Cherry tomatoes, halved or quartered, 2 Cups
  • Mozzarella cheese balls, 1 package (285 gram)
  • Basil leaves, chopped, 1/3 Cup
  • Olive oil, 2 Tablespoon
  • Balsamic vinegar, 1 Tablespoon
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions for Blueberry Caprese Salad

1.Slice cherry tomatoes into half or quarter. Chop basil leaves.

2.In a flat rectangular plate, assemble blueberries, tomatoes, and mozzarella balls by color to resemble the American flag. Sprinkle olive oil and balsamic vinegar dressing.  Decorate the dish with chopped basil leaves.

3.Alternatively, you can mix all salad ingredients together in a large bowl and toss with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

4. Serve immediately or refrigerate until you are ready to serve.
